Life begins… Andy Hanson became the last of the Directors at nonstopIT to cross the threshold into their 40th years.
We are delighted that Andy Hanson has been asked to join the Board of Directors here at nonstopIT. SecurICE – “In Case of Emergency”. SecurICE provides clients with the ability to turn on strong, two-factor authentication for all users in the event of an emergency. The user’s existing Microsoft password is the first factor, and a passcode sent to the user’s mobile phone is the second. There is no need for the user to enrol and remember an additional PIN, and no need for extra tokens or smartcards - the perfect emergency two-factor authentication system.

Andy Hanson joins nonstopIT. Starting out in I.T. at the grand rank of I.T. Junior, in a family ran Direct Mail organisation, the role had to rapidly learn to the skills of a Developer, DBA, Network and IT Manager rolled into one. After several years, a move from his home town of Manchester to Maidenhead saw more specialisation, in the marketing arena, as a senior developer and DBA, gaining MCSE along the way, before a promotion to the I.T. Manager of the organisation.
An unexpected relocation to Bristol saw Andy become I.T. Manager of a small entrepreneurial company that became a multi-location UK wide student hospitality company, UNITE Group plc. During his time at UNITE, the company expanded from 60 to 1500 employees and from several locations to well over 100 in the UK. A Diploma in Systems Analysis assisted in managing the growth in numbers and the I.T. requirements of internal users. The role also included the implementation of an ever increasing network, of well over 35,000+ students, providing IPTV, IPT and Internet services to their rooms.
2007
Managed services has been the key selling product suite of the year. With clients now requiring greater hosting and managed services on line; 2007 was the year we pushed our own hosting service. Providing a scanning facility for all mail incoming and outgoing, providing a pre-delivery check of all content for offensive, virus and content analysis. Whilst scanning all mail we also replicate every message that is sent and received and make it available for archival research. Furthering on our earlier success, we have made progress in providing a superb web scanning service; this too has also been received well and now taking care of all content requests, virus and content validity. A hosted authentication service with SSL and VPN access is also now in operation for clients requiring secure hosted services.
Key to the year was the provisioning of a disaster recovery suite to London. Hosting a replica of client’s most critical applications and data; we now provide a secure hosting service for remote access and recovery systems. With a replica being made in Bristol and due to launch Spring 2008; a true business continuity service.

2006
nonstopIT working should be made available to all who need to access, nonstop availability is therefore key to the availability of services; hence why we have launched a nonstop business continuity service that ensures availability for the key business services. Disaster recovery can now be afforded and puts its availability into reality. Hosted and managed alternatives are now available. Secure Computing accredited reseller of their full compliment of products. Providing services for the web gateway security, identity and access management, authentication and access management solutions, the product suite is comprehensive and a panacea of beast of breed solutions.
First reseller for the new ISA plugin VPN-Q from Winfrasoft. IPsec VPN is now back and returning on ISA 2004/6. With quarantine capability and third party authentication integration this is soon to take over the SSL-VPN market over the next few years as Microsoft grow its Firewalling capability.
Celestix appliances are standardized as the appliance of choice. As a competitive and well established background the use of appliances for application hosting is now a growth area and one promoted by nonstopIT as a secure alternative to more traditional options.
Cardiff Office
Cardiff Office opened early part of this year and expansion is continuing providing additional workforce in this region.
Encryption services are key critical to the offering. A new provider has been sought and approved called WinMagic who will takeover all device encryption for our client devices. The services extend from the desktop to laptops, PDAs and home devices.
New on line demo-suite planned for launch latter part of the year. Offering all solutions as demonstrations or trial before purchasing is our commitment that the solution will fulfill the clients requirements, we will be providing a full service of architecting, planning, piloting and rolling out all of our solutions to end users.

2005
Developing the solutions in house for end users to receive turn key solutions, live demonstrations were introduced for remote trials and demonstrations to be effective.
The addition of the development suite to the new Head Office enabled the research and development team to develop secure connectivity across wireless connections which won an award from Microsoft in recognition of these services
Trusted for best of breed solutions, we are now offering our first live seminars for all of our solutions and managed serviced offerings. With monthly seminars actively promoting our security solutions we are now making these available as broadcasts.
Securing wireless data and voice technologies, Aruba have been selected as wireless provider of choice.
2004
New demonstration facilities launched. Every solution is available for either trial or demonstration on our hosted platform, all support is managed by our own helpdesk and implementation and training is also now available from our growing technical support team.
Driving policies is difficult when reams of paper are being sent to individual users continually updating policy changes. We have launched a hosted solution that is automating and scheduling the releases as the user logs on to their machine. With a question and response also included the solution fits well with BS7799 specifically for security auditing and also with generalized use for communicating with employees.
First nonstop resilience centre opened for business. Failover between hosting sites is now triangular between London (UK), Warrington (UK) and America (USA).
2003
Consolidated Managed services suite launched and new reporting tools developed.
SecurEnvoys first UK reseller. nonstopIT converted RSA token users to the tokenless model and replaced the tokens for tokenless. Case studies and wins were added to the SecurEnvoy website and a new business campaign began.
Head Office move to 163 Whiteladies Road, Bristol.
Internal implementation of Checkpoint Intrusion prevention services (IPS). This was the first major step forward with Intrusion services since the advent of detection systems. Detecting was a requirement, prevention a necessity.
One of the very first Scansafe partners in the UK to sign into the service. Converted to a managed service this service is now filtering tens of thousands of internet connections made every day! Our mail filtering is also ramping up its activity to cleansing over twenty thousand mails per week.
2002
First UK security company accredited to ISO BS7799—2000. Utilising our commitment to using what we resell the accreditation was completed in August 2002. As we consult and advise clients with security standards, so its important we advise from experience.
Managed services platform went live with additional services including managed authentication, internet connectivity, encryption services aswell as converting beta testers to live services of email and web filtering.
eEye accredited reseller this year along with Aventail.
First work with PWC security division. Attending joint seminars and end user opportunities.
TFS acquiring RSA Keon provided nonstopIT accreditation as one of three UK resellers (now renamed as Fox Software). Accreditation was completed with technical training in Sweden!
2001
RSA awarded nonstopIT most successful RSA Keon partner in the UK, with more successful implementations of PKI than any other partner.
Accredited ISO9001 in this year, setting the base ready for greater accreditations to come!
nonstopIT were the first partner to build and demonstrate Citrix Secure gateway (CSG).
First on line backup partner offering a secure backup solution across the internet utilising authentication and encryption services.
Signed iPass reseller agreement to become the third partner in the UK. Successful deployments from the first year, moving forward we started offering managed and corporate solutions.
Our managed services platform introduced to existing clients as Beta testing sites. First services offered were filtering of mail and web surfing.
2000
RSA had a PKI solution called Keon. This was public key infrastructure for the new millennium! Along with six other partners such as PWC, BT and Fujitsu; nonstopIT became accredited and fully trained Keon partners for the UK.
We also signed nCipher partner accreditation for Key Recovery and repudiation solutions.
Largest PKI implementation this year was a FTSE100 deployment to Group Head Office and deployment for both encryption and for email-security.
1999
Web traffic started to become problematic in its use and what it was carrying. The first venture into filtering was made with Websense and within the first year we were filtering thousands of users.
We implemented our first Citrix server farm and became a Citrix extranet partner, the first VPN attempt by Citrix to securely connect securely across the internet. We implemented the first and only version of the in the UK.
London Office
1998
Citrix was the web enabling tool of choice for remote access and we accredited Silver status in this year.
Two factor authentication was the next implementation for ourselves. We opted for the then market leader RSA.
Expansion lead us to grow into the London Office this year.
1997
Checkpoint was brought to the UK and nonstopIT decided to become one of their first accredited partners. The first installation to our network was achieved.
Latterly we implemented Citrix NFuse, the first truly web enabled thin method of deploying applications across the internet. Soon after this deployment an added layer of security was added; SSL. Now allowing the internet connection to be secure allowed us to deploy all of our users to remote working.
Trend micro launched in the UK, primarily an American company, but we liked the solution, the methodology and pricing and became one of the first UK resellers. Deployment on our system was initiated also during this year and go to market strategy performed.
1996
New office opened in Bristol; managed service office in Bristol City Centre.
First penetration test performed with a vulnerability assesmanet and gap analysis; venturing into new ground and finding new and sometimes unknown vulnerabilities.
1995
Initial engagement with Citrix began and our first ICA connection was made (Independent Citrix Agent).
Remote web access was created across the internet securely for application deployment; this was the first venture to deploy applications from outside the enterprise.
1994
Incorporated in October 1994 – the first dedicated IT Security company in the UK.
Initiated to provide security solutions in the earliest days of dos attacks and public key exchange.
First office opened in Bristol. (Running initially from a converted garage the costs were kept to a minimum when setting up a business focused primarily at Security in a market where security issues were still at a minimum.)
